Back when Hillary Clinton thought she was going to win the presidential election, she constantly preached about the importance of the loser accepting defeat and not challenging the president-elect. That’s why she exposed herself as a hypocrite this week when her campaign announced that it will be supporting efforts by members of the Electoral college to have an intelligence briefing about foreign involvement in the election before they gather to vote on Monday.
“The bipartisan electors’ letter raises very grave issues involving our national security,” top Clinton adviser John Podesta said in a statement, according to American News. “Electors have a solemn responsibility under the Constitution and we support their efforts to have their questions addressed.”
“Each day that month, our campaign decried the interference of Russia in our campaign and its evident goal of hurting our campaign to aide Donald Trump,” he added. “Despite our protestations, this matter did not receive the attention it deserved by the media in the campaign. We now know that the CIA has determined Russia’s interference in our elections was for the purpose of electing Donald Trump. This should distress every American.”
This comes after 10 electors penned an open letter on Monday in which they requested intelligence briefings explaining Trump’s close ties to Russia. Since then, 30 other electors have signed this letter as well.
“I think it’s ridiculous. I think it’s just another excuse,” Trump said of this movement. “I don’t believe it. I don’t know why, and I think it’s just—you know, they talked about all sorts of things. Every week, it’s another excuse.
Trump added that he believes the Democrats were doing it as a result of one of “the greatest defeats in the history of politics in this country.”
