Talk about draining the swamp!
Vice President-Elect Mike Pence has ordered all lobbyists to pack their bags and get off of President-Elect Donald Trump’s transition team.
After signing documents giving him full authority of the team, one of Pence’s first orders of business was to purge it of all special interest lobbyists, The Wall Street Journal is reporting.
At the same time, Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner is apparently reversing every decision made by the former head of the transition team, Chris Christie. He’s telling all Christie’s appointments to get out too.
The shakeup is being labeled as evidence of a “haphazard transition” in the press, but Trump folks say things are going according to plan. Trump even tweeted how well things are moving along.
“Very organized process taking place as I decide on Cabinet and many other positions. I am the only one who knows who the finalists are!”
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
Also ousted from the team were former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich) who was thought to be a candidate to lead the CIA and Matthew Freedman, who was heading up plans for the National Security Council. The transition team brought on Frank Gaffney, a former Reagan administration appointee and Reps. Pete Hoekstra and Devin Nunes.
Christie’s dismissal was a “shock” to some who thought Trump would be loyal to the New Jersey Governor. But The Daily Caller is suggesting that those within Trump circles found him to be “insufficiently loyal in the final weeks of the campaign.”
Pence will now finish out the ten-week process of filling a President Donald Trump’s administration.
