Texas Officially Removes Planned Parenthood From Medicaid

Like the 3 wise men bearing gifts, Texas just gave baby Jesus an amazing birthday present.

Texas is officially booting Planned Parenthood from the state’s Medicaid program.  Planned Parenthood received $3.1 million in Medicaid funding, but those dollars will be nixed in 30 days, according to a notice which was obtained by The Texas Tribune.

This has been a long fight for conservatives, starting October 2015 when Gov. Greg Abbott first moved to cut off Medicaid funding.

Abbot ordered Texas officials to deliver a notice of intent to toss Planned Parenthood from the public insurance program and gave the organization 30 days to respond. If the organization did not act, the state said, it would issue a “final notice of termination,” formally ending Planned Parenthood’s participation in Medicaid. That order, due to infighting and weakness was never issued.

Until Tuesday. Texas Health and Human Services Inspector General Stuart Bowen issued the final notice saying,“Planned Parenthood violated state and federal law.”

Bowen said in the notice “Planned Parenthood has a history of deviating from accepted standards to procure tissue samples for researchers and a willingness to charge more than the costs incurred for procuring fetal tissue, among other violations.”

“Your misconduct is directly related to whether you are qualified to provide medical services in a professionally competent, safe, legal and ethical manner,” Bowen continued.

“Your actions violate generally accepted medical standards, as reflected in state and federal law, and are Medicaid program violations that justify termination.”

Another win for conservatives. We’re on a roll!
