President Obama threw Israel under the bus by allowing an anti-Israel United Nations Security Council resolution to pass without vetoing it.
Obama’s action was condemned from all sides, earning rebuke from both Democrats and Republicans, and hurting the historically close relationship the United States has had with Israel.
President-elect Donald Trump criticized Obama’s action and promised Israel that help was on the way:
Israeli President Netanyahu responded warmly:
Now it looks like the the Trump team wants to build on that relationship.
According to the NY Post, Trump advisors are working on having Netanyahu invited to the inauguration or arranging a meeting between the two before the inaugural.
“There’s a plan for Trump to meet with Netanyahu,” the source said. “They’re talking all the time. And Netanyahu is talking about possibly going to the inauguration.”
While Obama’s actions damaged our relations, it looks like Donald Trump is well on the way to putting things back on a positive course for the future.
