Donald Trump is reportedly working on two new executive orders that could allow for any illegal immigrant in the U.S. to be deported, regardless of whether or not they had committed a crime.
The memos in question are instructions to ICE agents as to how to implement two executive actions signed by Trump on January 25 that were intended to deter future migration and drive out more illegal migrants from the United States. The first memo was about internal immigration control, and it stated that all illegal aliens are subject to deportation. It also told agents to ignore Barack Obama’s order to focus on criminal illegals and recent arrivals and to instead prioritize migrants who have been charged with crimes but not yet convicted.
The memo also stated that illegal immigrants should not be given rights under US privacy laws and also widens the scope of ICE powers to determine who should be deported.
Both memos have already been approved by Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly and are awaiting final approval from Trump’s White House. They will likely be sent out to agents early next week.
A source said that the memos were scheduled to be released on Friday, but the White House made a last-minute request to review them.
