Just 2 months in office and our President is already fulfilling his list of campaign promises using common sense – a welcomed change after 8 years of regime hell bent on destroying the Constitution.
The United States currently gives a ridiculous $8 billion a year to the United Nations that together with Obama and Kerry betrayed Israel.
The gravy train is over and BIG CUTS are coming.
The Trump administration previously planned to introduce an executive order asking for a 40 percent decrease in U.N. funding, according to The New York Times. That order was delayed over legal concerns.
The outlet notes the U.S. spends $10 billion annually on the U.N. About $4 billion of that comes from the State Department, according to the agency’s most recent $50 billion budget request.
The funding drawdown could be disastrous for the U.N., which depends on the U.S. for 22 percent of its regular budget and 28 percent of its peacekeeping budget.
One expert told Foreign Policy that if funding is cut for humanitarian agencies, like the U.N.’s refugee and food programs, it could “leave a gaping hole that other big donors would struggle to fill. … You are basically talking about the breakdown of the international humanitarian system as we know it.”
But Trump has already committed to a $54 billion raise for the U.S. military, which leaves less room for funding diplomacy and foreign aid.
All of Trump’s budget requests will have to pass through Congress in order to take effect.
When you take everything in consideration and do the math, America gives around $8 billion to the UN annually, and we the people, provide far more funding than any other member of the international body.
But come to think about it, the money can be put to far better use here at home. From funding the wall and grants for hiring more police officers, to repairing crumbling roads and bridges, the money can find its place by benefiting all Americans.
We couldn’t agree more with Trump’s decision on this one. Our veterans are out there living on the streets and starving to death, and our government is responsible for taking care of them. Instead of throwing away our money for nothing, we can use them to benefit America and its veteran heroes, who more than anything, deserve a roof over their heads and warm meals every day.
